You are working on an architectural project, and time for detailing closing in. Still, are you not pleasant with your ideas? That is the problem, and this article will give you 4 advices to design your project better, just read and apply these awesomely useful 4 tips.

Before passing on to 4 tips, let’ s understand how the manner of an architect should be in a design process. Firstly, we should not be worrying about ‘finding cool ideas’ , okey? Our sole purpose is going to be doing our level best to be an architect of a meaningful project. This is because, there is no precept saying qualified architects can solve all the complicated architectural problems in the world. Even being an experienced architect, does not gives the guarantee of solving all architectural problematics, but gives just a potential to do this. That’ s why, sometimes, a local worker can solve an architectural problem more properly than any star-architect. This is just about seeing the main problem in a mountain of problems and killing it meticulously.
Therefore, our aim should be just doing our best, because even we would be an awesome-minded architect, we can not design best everytime. If we afraid of being unable to solve the problems creatively, we can’ t solve them creatively. Don’ t forget that : Afraid is enemy of best solutions, enjoying is friend of them. People enjoy when they don’ t concern results and just dancing with their work. Dancing with the conditions brings the best results.
Anxiety leads us to imitations, so, it makes us to lose our self-confidence. Imitations are the ideas that found in other problems’ solving processes, and by other architects. When we are worry about finding best solution, we can not be creative; and we can’ t see the main problem in front of us, then, we began to see some fake problems that are not belonging to our project. Then, we tend to steal cliche solutions finded by others to solve these fake(for us) problems. When our fault show up, we lose our self-confidence, and afraid more and more.
So, let’s say again: I won’t afraid, I will just going to my best to be an architect of a meaningful project.

Mimari proje tasarlıyoruz, artık detaylara inmemiz gerekiyor ancak hala bizi tatmin eden fikirlere ulaşamadık mı? Bu yazı işimizi bir hayli kolaylaştıracaktır. Burada en önemli mesele iyi bir fikir bulma kaygısına düşmemek olmalıdır. Tek amacımız anlamlı bir yapının mimarı olmak adına elimizden geleni yapmak olmalıdır. Çünkü, kaliteli bir mimar için dahi “her türlü mimari sorunu en iyi o çözer” diye bir kaide olamaz. Olsa olsa şunu diyebiliriz: Her türlü mimari sorunu en iyi şekilde onun çözme ihtimali yüksektir. Ancak bazen yerel bir usta, dünyanın en star mimarından dahi daha isabetli çözebilir bir mimari problemi. Dolayısıyla, buna dikkat etmek ve özgüvensizliğe kapılmamak, kaliteli fikir bulamama ihtimalinden korkmamak gerekir. Zaten korkunun olduğu yerde özgün fikir değil, taklit fikirler ortaya çıkar. En acı olanı da bu taklit fikirleri kendi fikrimiz sanmak ve zamanla fikirlerimize güvenmeme/ yeterince özgün bulmama sorunu yaşamaktır. Halbuki o fikirler aslında bizim değildiler ve bizi yansıtmıyorlardı. Unutmayalım ki bir tasarımcı özgüvenini kaybederse artık tasarımcı değildir. Bu sebeplerden dolayı tek amacımız, anlamlı bir sonuç uğruna ELİMİZDEN GELENİ YAPMAYA GAYRET ETMEK olmalıdır. Aşağıdaki maddeleri de bu bakış açısıyla denememiz gerekmekte. Peki neler yapabiliriz? |
1.Visiting the Project Site
Perceiving the project site
Feasibility is important, because even finding the coolest idea; if it is not constructable(in terms of physically, socially, .. etc.) on project site, what is the meaning of it? Therefore, an idea must have a meaningful communication with project site. To find the relational potentials in project site, we should visit the site from time to time during design process. But don’ t forget that project site could be so hard to show you its potentials. If so, you should visit it more and in different times of the day.

2.Watching Some Documentaries and Videos about Architectural Program
What is a factory? Forget all you know…
Just for example, if you are going to design a factory; firstly, ask yourself that what is a factory? You are not designing just a building, you are designing a factory! So, you have to have knowledge about factories. How a factory works? What is a production line? What is the social and spatial varieties of a factory? Which kind of relations are exist in a factory? Which of them is necessary, and what are new potential bonds among the elements of a factory?
This kind of questions will help you to design your own factory. To be able to ask these questions, you can watch some videos about factories.

Unutmamalıyız ki herhangi bir bina değil fabrika binası tasarlamamız isteniyor bizden. Bunun için fabrikalar hakkında bilgi sahibi olmamız gerekmekte. Fabrika nedir, nasıl çalışır, sosyal veya mekansal potansiyelleri nedir, nasıl ilişkilerin(sosyal, fiziksel) ortaya çıkmasını sağlar? Bu ve benzeri sorular sorarak ilgili belgeselleri ve videoları izlemek faydalı olacaktır. |
3.Experiencing the Architectural Program
How a sport center should be?
As an example, if you are going to design a sport center; then, why not going to a sport center near you? The main principle in here is the asking some questions like in the second method. Being in a constructed sport center will make you to think about sport centers, and lead you to ask important questions about them. Of course, all the questions you asked is not appropriate; but, some of them is very valuable and maybe will evolve to main ideas that will generate the final project.
By the way, another deepnote about asking questions. Don’ t be good at repartee, okey? Because when you do it, you fail to notice precious answers and ideas. Maybe the real answer is not the first-seemed answer. Just be relax and enjoy the questioning. Doing that will bring you awesome architectural projects that is %100 belong to you!
In this context, we can rethink about the boring buildings around us. Don’ t they seem as same answers to different questions? As if they are just buildings, not a museum, school, office etc. The difference between contractors and us should be about this. We have to see main problems, ask true questions, by dancing with this questions reaching specifical answers.

Mesela bir spor merkezi tasarlayacak isek yakınımızdaki bir spor merkezine gitmeyi deneyebiliriz. Burada temel mantık, 2. Maddedeki soruları sorabileceğimiz bir şeyler yapmaktır. Spor merkezi bizlere, değinilmesi gereken meseleleri görünür kılacaktır. Önemli olan devamlı sorular sormaktır. Bu soruların bir çoğu isabetsiz olsa da muhakkak doğru soruları da sormuş olacağız. Unutmayalım ki bu sorduğumuz sorular ileride fikirlere dönüşecektir. Her şeyin cevabını daha baştan verirsek potansiyellere gözümüzü kapatmış oluruz. Dolayısıyla, bazı soruların zaten belliymiş gibi görünen cevaplarını görmezden gelmeli ve asıl cevaplara ulaşma gayretinde olmalıyız. Bu gayret bize, aynı soruna farklı(farklılıktan ziyade varolan çözümden daha anlamlı) çözümler bulmamızı sağlar. Bu bağlamda çevremizdeki birbirinin aynısı toplu konut yapılarını düşünebiliriz aslında. Tüm binalar aynı sorunun çözümü gibi görünüyorlar, peki oradaki tüm mimari sorunlar aynı mı? Anlaşılan o ki birileri bu soruya evet cevabını vermiş ve ortaya bazı ucubeler ortaya çıkartmanın en doğru iş olduğuna hükmetmiş. Müteahhitlerle aramızdaki fark(link) işte bu olmalıdır. Farklı sorular sorarak asıl sorunları tespit etmek ve en anlamlı çözüme ulaşmaktır. |
4.Critisizing the Constructed Samples about our Architectural Program
Diccussion on a building improves architects..
This method is the most fun way maybe to develop your projects. The architect ego will going to love this method: Criticising!! You can go to the constructed architectural projects and criticise them. What are the faults of the architects in there? Why they shouldn’t have solved the problems in that way? If you apply this method with your friends, it would be the number of friends times more beneficial. Perhaps, you can scatter into two groups and arrange a discussion match. One group can advocate the project and the ideas in it, while other group attacking to project. Of course, do not turn the discussion into a donnybrook! Just make architectural sentences about project. And don’t forget taking the printed drawings of that project with you.

Now, lets start applying this methods and break the boring process(maybe) in school.. Also, write down your own methods for enjoying the arch. projects and for develop them.

İşte mimar egomuzu tatmin edebileceğimiz bir yöntem. Üzerine çalıştığımız mimari programın binalaştırılmış örneklerini ziyaret etmek çok eğlenceli ve verimli bir yoldur. Çünkü insanlar eleştirmekten çok keyif alırlar ve insanlar keyif aldıkları şeyi mükemmel bir özgüven ve özgünlükle yaparlar. Bu biraz atıp tutarak yapılacak eleştiriler hem gezimizi renklendirecek hem de farklı mekansal çözümleri ve sorunları keşfettirecektir bize. Bunu bir grup arkadaşla yapmak ise verimliliği gruptaki üye sayısının exponential katı kadar verimli hale getirecektir. Hatta bu eleştiri atmosferini bir münazara şeklinde yapmak çok çok daha verimli olabilir. Bir grup yapıyı ölesiye savunurken, diğer grup acımasızca eleştirmeyi deneyebilir. Tabiki konuyu kişiselleştirmemek ve mimari cümleler kurmak burada çok önemlidir. Sizinde verimliliğini deneyimlediğiniz çalışma yöntemlerini paylaşmanız çok harika olur. |
